This study examined the role perceptions of hospital social workers and NGO (non-governmental organization) social workers who provide psychosocial services for survivors of childhood and adolescent cancer. A literature analysis led to the development of 55 roles in psychosocial care across 15 service areas. A survey was conducted with 42 social workers working in either hospital settings or community-based NGOs. T-tests were conducted to examine the difference between hospital-based and NGO groups. Significant differences were found in the level of importance the survey participants felt about the role of providing psychosocial services at different settings. Also, statistically significant differences were reported in the degree of current practice levels at the individual and institutional levels between hospital-based and NGO groups. This study indicates that service continuity and quality could be improved by promoting cooperation and collaboration between medical institutions and NGOs across the cancer survivorship trajectory.
본 연구는 소아청소년암 대상 심리사회서비스를 제공하는 병원과 비영리민간단체 사회복지사의 역할에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 문헌고찰을 기반으로 15개의 영역에서 55개의 심리사회서비스 역할을 제시하였고, 병원 기반 또는 비영리민간단체에서 근무하는 42명의 사회복지사들을 대상으로 각 역할의 중요성과 수행 정도에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 병원과 비영리민간단체 사회복지사 집단 간 차이를 검증하기 위한 독립표본 t-검정을 실시한 결과, 기관유형별로 중요하게 인식하는 심리사회서비스 제공 역할에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 병원과 비영리민간단체의 사회복지사들이 수행하는 개인 및 기관 차원에서의 서비스 제공 역할 정도에도 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 확인하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 의료기관과 지역사회 기관 내 소아청소년 대상 심리사회서비스 제공자들의 협력을 도모하여 서바이버십 궤적에서의 서비스의 연계성과 서바이버십의 질적 향상을 도모할 수 있기를 기대하였다.
This study aims to identify the essential educational priorities for enhancing the job competency of social service agents in the social welfare sector, thus contributing to the advancement and refinement of the educational system. Data were collected from 378 social service agents and 1,861 persons in charge at social welfare facilities where those social service agents were deployed. Gap Analysis and Locus for Focus analysis were employed to compare perceived levels of educational needs, and priorities were derived from the combined results. The analysis revealed statistically significant gaps between the desired and current levels of most competencies presented in the survey of representatives from social welfare facilities and social service agents. For each respondent group, competencies with above-average levels of both need and discrepancies were identified as high educational needs. The results were then integrated based on the most commonly identified competencies. The job competencies with the highest educational needs were ‘client orientation’, ‘understanding of the client’, ‘client engagement’, ‘communication’, and ‘complaint response’. Secondary job competencies included ‘respect for human rights’, ‘identification of client needs’, ‘empathy’, and ‘care skills’. The significance of this study lies in its comprehensive investigation and analysis of the educational needs and perceptions of both social service agents and persons in charge at social welfare facilities. By identifying educational priorities to enhance the job competency of social service agents, this study provides a foundation for designing a competency-based education curriculum.
본 연구의 목적은 사회복지 분야 사회복무요원의 직무역량 향상을 위해 필요한 교육의 우선순위를 도출함으로써 교육 체계의 발전과 고도화를 위한 자료를 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 사회복지시설에서 복무하는 사회복무요원 378명과 사회복무요원이 배치되어 있는 근무기관 담당자 1,861명의 자료를 수집하였다. 이들이 인식하는 교육요구도의 수준을 비교하기 위하여 역량별 요구 수준과 현재 수준 불일치 정도를 확인하는 갭 분석과 Locus for Focus 분석을 활용하였으며, 교육요구도 종합 결과를 통해 교육의 우선순위를 도출하였다. 분석 결과, 근무기관 담당자와 사회복무요원 조사에서 제시된 대부분의 역량이 바람직한 수준과 현재의 수준 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있음이 확인되었다. Locus for Focus 분석을 통해 응답자 집단별로 요구 수준과 불일치 정도가 모두 평균 이상인 역량을 교육요구도가 높은 역량으로 도출한 후, 공통적으로 제시된 역량을 중심으로 결과를 종합하였다. 교육의 필요성이 가장 높은 최우선순위 직무역량으로 ‘이용자지향’, ‘대상자이해’, 관계형성’, ‘커뮤니케이션’, ‘민원응대’ 역량이 선정되었으며, 차순위 역량으로 ‘인권존중’, 이용자욕구파악’, ‘공감’, ‘케어기술(돌봄)’이 나타났다. 본 연구는 사회복무요원과 근무기관 담당자 양측의 교육요구와 인식을 함께 조사하고 종합적으로 분석하여 결론을 도출하였으며, 사회복무요원의 직무역량 향상을 위한 교육 우선순위를 분석하여 사회복무요원 교육과정을 역량 기반으로 설계하는 데 필요한 기초적인 근거를 마련하였다는 데 의의가 있다.
